Looking to buy wallpaper online in Canada? Start by choosing a design you love, checking its specifications and measuring your walls carefully. With a little planning, you can find wallpaper that suits your space and order the right amount for your project.
At Whimsical Walls, you can explore boutique wallpaper and wall murals for a wide range of interiors. Whether you are refreshing a bedroom or creating a statement entrance, our online collection offers plenty of inspiration.
Start with the Room You Want to Transform
Before browsing patterns, think about how you want the room to feel. Would you like a restful retreat, a welcoming gathering space or something playful?
For example, soft colours and gentle patterns can create a calm bedroom. Meanwhile, a striking floral or dramatic mural can give a dining room a distinctive focal point.
Consider the elements that will stay in the room, including flooring, furniture, cabinetry and curtains. Your wallpaper does not need to match everything. However, repeating one or two existing colours can help the space feel connected.
Choose a Wallpaper Pattern That Suits Your Space
When shopping online, it helps to narrow your search by the effect you want to create.
Floral and Botanical Wallpaper
Floral and botanical designs bring nature indoors. Small, delicate patterns can provide a gentle backdrop, while oversized leaves and blooms create a stronger statement.
Geometric Patterns and Stripes
For a more structured look, consider geometric shapes or stripes. Think about how the pattern will work around windows, doors and furniture, especially where those features interrupt the design.
Whimsical Designs
Playful wallpaper can bring personality to bedrooms, reading corners and family spaces. Choose colours and imagery that you will enjoy living with beyond the first impression.
Wall Murals
A mural creates a larger scene or composition across a wall. Unlike a repeating wallpaper pattern, its layout may depend on specific panel positions and wall dimensions. Therefore, check the full design and measurements before ordering.

Look Beyond the Product Photo
A styled room photograph is useful for inspiration. However, the product details help you decide whether a wallpaper is suitable for your project.
Before buying, check:
- Dimensions: Confirm the roll width and length, or the mural’s finished size.
- Pattern repeat: This affects how much wallpaper is needed to align the design.
- Pattern match: Check how neighbouring strips must line up.
- Material and finish: Consider texture, appearance and care requirements.
- Installation method: Follow the product’s specific instructions.
- Ordering unit: Confirm exactly what the listed price includes.
Also, avoid assuming that every wallpaper uses the same adhesive or installation process. Product requirements can vary.
View a Sample Where Available
Colours can look different on a screen than they do in your home. Lighting, surrounding paint and the time of day all influence how a wallpaper appears.
If a sample is available, view it against your wall in daylight and under your evening lighting. Place it beside your furniture and flooring, too.
Although a sample helps you assess colour and texture, it may show only a small part of a large pattern. For that reason, review the full product images as well.
Measure Carefully Before You Order
Measure the width and height of each wall you plan to cover. If the ceiling slopes or the wall height varies, record those differences.
Wallpaper quantities depend on more than total wall area. Roll dimensions, pattern matching and trimming all affect the amount required. Consequently, simply dividing your wall area by the coverage shown on a roll can leave you short.
Before placing your order, have your measurements checked by your installer or ask the retailer for guidance. Where applicable, request matching batch numbers to help maintain colour consistency across rolls.
Check Delivery and Return Details
When you buy wallpaper online in Canada, review the ordering policies before checkout.
Confirm delivery availability for your postal code, estimated lead times, shipping charges and applicable taxes. You should also check whether the wallpaper is stocked or ordered specifically for you.
Return policies deserve attention, particularly for special orders and custom murals. If you have a firm decorating deadline, allow time for delivery and inspection before booking installation.
Plan for Installation
Even a beautiful wallpaper needs suitable wall preparation. Surfaces should meet the manufacturer’s requirements before installation begins.
For example, existing damage may need repair, and fresh paint may need time to cure. The correct preparation will depend on the wall surface and chosen product.
Professional installation may be helpful for complex pattern matching, stairwells, large murals or delicate materials. Whimsical Walls also offers wallpaper installation services in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley; contact us to discuss your location and project.
Frequently Asked Questions About Buying Wallpaper Online
Where can I buy wallpaper online in Canada?
You can shop for boutique wallpaper and wall murals through the Whimsical Walls online store. Review individual product details and confirm delivery arrangements before ordering.
How much wallpaper should I order?
The amount depends on your wall measurements, roll size, pattern repeat and installation layout. Ask for a quantity check before purchasing, especially when working with large patterns.
Can I use wallpaper in a bathroom?
Some wallcoverings may suit certain bathroom areas, but suitability depends on the product, ventilation and exposure to moisture. Check the manufacturer’s guidance rather than assuming a wallpaper is suitable for damp conditions.
What is the difference between wallpaper and a mural?
Wallpaper usually repeats a pattern across adjoining strips. A mural forms a larger image or scene, often using panels installed in a specific order.
